rosedee1995 's review for:
Sister Citizen: Shame, Stereotypes, and Black Women in America
by Melissa V. Harris-Perry
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and making connections from 2011 (when it was published) to now. We still have a long way to go. MHP also has empirical data to support her claims and I genuinely appreciated how she used Zora Neale Hurston, Toni Morrison, Alice Walker, and Ntzoke Shange in her book to connect their novels to her point.
