Jodi Oliver's debut Trade Deadline, the first in her Chicago Thunder series, is one of the sweetest, low-angst hockey romances I’ve ever read. I loved every page! As a hockey romance fan, this one instantly became a new favourite.

Blaine Olsen's reputation takes a hit, thanks to some nasty puck bunnies, and he’s in hot water. To save face, and his career, he’s got to ditch his hook-up king ways until the trade deadline. Then he meets Alex and it’s not a problem, because it’s insta-love!

I can’t get enough of these two – they’re both out, so there’s no coming-out drama, just pure chemistry. The bar scene where Alex turns Blaine down is so hot! Their banter is hilarious, Blaine’s jokes are absolute shockers (in the best way), and their texting was cute and funny.

Blaine naming Puppy Dog was the cutest moment, cue happy tears, I think I melted! And Blaine’s twin Elliott as a side character is adorable, wholesome, and just the right touch. I’m impatiently awaiting more of him.

If you’re like me – a romantic with a glass half-full outlook and a soft spot for fluff with a dash of spice – Trade Deadline will win you over. Grab it and let yourself fall for Blaine and Alex!
