The Date Dare by Tara Sue Me

5.0

Okay, so I’m not going to lie. This genre of book goes against everything I don’t really like with romance. I’m not a rom-com fan, I like my dark, twisted, kinky, intense reads. Like Tara’s earlier work, The Submissive series.

But the fact is I love Tara’s books, the style, and the way she can capture your mind and run wild with a plot that’ll have you on the edge of your seat all the way through. So when I saw it was in fact a Tara Sue Me book, I grabbed it, one-clicked without even reading the blurb, and you know what? I’m so glad I did! I had fun with this book, it was light yet, not to light, it was funny as hell, still pretty hot and just an easy flowing read and I think it was something I needed between reading these darker sides to romance.

This book is a friends-to-lovers romance, about two best friends Darcy and Elliot, that were just that, best friends, nothing more, nothing less. But something changed for Elliot and he begun to see another side to Darcy, a side that had him wanting her in ways he never expected. But of course, he didn’t act on it. The last thing he wanted to do was risk their friendship. So through a period of time, he started to date different women here and there, trying with everything he could do remove these feeling for her from his mind.

Darcy noticed his serial dating and pulled him up on it, telling him he needed to find a decent girl he could finally settle down with. Which ended up turning into a dare, a game to her but he was willing to play it. He dared her to find the same thing, to find the perfect guy for herself, even though he knew he was that guy. It wasn’t as easy as it sounded, they were meant to be together, they were the perfect match so trying to find another perfect match when the real one is standing right in front of you? It’s impossible. It was Elliot’s mission to prove to Darcy that he was the one, he was her happily ever after, and her his.

This was cute, and I loved everything About Elliot, the way he was with Darcy, the things he did to try and prove to her that he was the one for her.

I absolutely loved this book and it’s taken me by surprise. Extremely well written, I wouldn’t expect anything less from Tara, the characters developed throughout the story perfectly and she made it a fun and enjoyable read.

5 stars!
