Do You Dream of Terra-Two? by Temi Oh

5.0

Do You Dream of Terra-Two is a poetic, unfolding novel. It has more in common with [b:The Martian|18007564|The Martian|Andy Weir|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1413706054l/18007564._SY75_.jpg|21825181] than, say, The Expanse or Star Trek. Focused on the first spacefarers to go to Terra-Two, an inhabitable planet 23 years of space travel from earth, the novel follows the crew from their time in competitive space academy through their travels to Terra-Two.

There's a focus on the way quiet things build to an explosive point, from the students who drop out of the space academies due to stress to death. Hints of problems to come surface early, then recede, almost forgettable until it's a crisis aboard the ship. Mixed with the deep isolation of space, this book inches toward panic and hope, the two intertwined.
