Ariadne by Jennifer Saint

Mythology of Ariande from "FEMINIST PERSPECTIVE" they said. Was it really? I think titling it "VICTIMIZING WOMAN 101" would make much sense.

Don't come after me right away hear me out first. See if a woman makes a bad choice and then gets betrayed (by man), a feminist would say It's her choice and she is to blame equally but in Ariadne, It's all man's fault, my fondness for this book evaporated there. Nothing really remained. This one did not try to make it feministic tale rather convincing you to hate male characters. All men are predatory, fool, shallow, Hungry for power, dominance. Even the gentle one (aka Dionysus is also not so gentle it says) I'm sorry this title is MISLEADING

Mythology of Ariadne is a fascinating one. Her life is not limited to the mythology of Theseus and Minotaur or just the love interest of the god of wine Dionysus. There are many layer of her story deep down. Aw wait how can we forget her little sister Phaedra who ends up being not so little in later life. Then why there's no story of them in mythology? See PATRIARCHY IN MYTHOLOGY IS A THING Female characters here are just some "Weaker Vessel". This book fascinatingly described it, victimizing them in all possible way. It introduced the problems but stayed on surface only rather diving deep into the root.

Retelling is adding your elements to a pre-existing story. Interpret in your own way but deliberately changing it to make your point in a manner that it loses It's genuineness, that's also not fair. I'm not commenting on It's authenticity cause It's mythology after all. But I'm saying it out loud This version of Ariadne's story is my least fav one.
