I don’t generally read nonfiction and I chose this book intentionally as a departure from my typical selection. I’m so glad I did. This is a story that invites the reader to expand their awareness of the extreme conditions behind one immigrant’s experience. It evokes all kinds of emotion. Sadness, anger, but also tentative hope. It is an important read from an immigrant‘s perspective.
