(1.5) had potential to be good but the execution is so very, very dull, plodding along at glacial speed with really no interesting characters to be invested in (outside of chris, who is painfully underused.) the philosophical elements are handed with all the deftness of a sledgehammer and feel forced into the story rather than assisting in the plot. just tries to do way too much, and goes about it very shallowly. absolute slog of a read
