Oroonoko by Aphra Behn

challenging dark emotional reflective tense slow-paced

This book was unlike any of the other enslaved narratives that I have read recently in that it was less violent and cast the main character, Oroonoko, in a different light compared to others I have read. I found it less compelling and felt less sympathy for the main character. This could be due to the characteristics of the person who wrote this or just the writing in general. I am still intrigued to study and compare this story to the others I have read recently.
