This book was absurd, but in the best way?? Bunny is a dark, surreal novel that blends fiction and horror. This book made me question my sanity (as with all the other books I’ve read by Mona Awad so far). I was so close to DNF’ing this book, but I just couldn’t put it down. I needed to find out what was going to happen.
In this story we follow Samantha Mackey, a lonely outsider in a prestigious writing program. She gets pulled into a strange, cult-like group of girls who call themselves ‘bunnies’. As she enters their world of ritualistic workshops, the line between imagination and reality starts to dissolve.
This book tackles many themes, such as loneliness, female friendship, toxic group dynamics and the difference between fantasy and reality. It was one major fever dream. It made me question what is real, can we even trust Samantha her perspective?
