I didn't know what to think about [b:Binti|25667918|Binti (Binti, #1)|Nnedi Okorafor|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1433804020l/25667918._SY75_.jpg|45491127]. Compared to the same author [a:Nnedi Okorafor|588356|Nnedi Okorafor|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1507148868p2/588356.jpg]'s elegant prose and fully developed characters in the Nsibidi Scripts series, [b:Binti|25667918|Binti (Binti, #1)|Nnedi Okorafor|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1433804020l/25667918._SY75_.jpg|45491127] seemed to lack a lot of substance.
I usually like the surprise element in fiction, but this one didn't really seem to have a purpose. Things were a little too clean for my taste, for sci-fi/fantasy.
At the same time, this was kind of hard to follow. I read it half as the print book and half as audio, and I don't know which I preferred. I had to go back and re-listen to the audio a lot to understand what was going on.
I don't know if I'll prioritize this series. It was good but not at the top of my list right now after reading the first book. It might be one of those series I come back around to in a few years.
