The Borden Murders: Lizzie Borden & the Trial of the Century by Sarah Miller
3.0
Overall I thought this book was okay, I didn't hate it but I also didn't love it, my thoughts were pretty neutral. Structurally the book flowed and the order of events made sense. The way Miller would switch between events and background information was done in a way that was not confusing and made everything relevant.
The one thing I particularly did not like about the book was the beginning. Mainly, the character introductions. I understand that Miller introduced them as they appeared because of the real case but it was incredibly overwhelming. I appreciated the character list that was in the front of the book, but it was distracting to flip back and forth in the middle of the action.
I do think that Miller did a great job of making this informational text true to its genre though. After reading the book I spent a good amount of time researching the murders and seeing if I could find any more information. The book made me interested in an event that I had never heard of and thoroughly educated me on it.
