A incredibly sad, angry, and intriguing book that stays with you long after you've put it down. There is so much (justified!) anger in the writing, and I kept thinking about many of the topics long after I'd finished the book. For such a short novel, it perfectly captures many of the barriers and injustices that women face within a patriarchal society as well as their need to create spaces of sisterhood entirely independent of men.
Reading this while physically being in the near-exact location of Geillis Duncan's jail cell and execution site while also personally participating in a modern-day court case has made for even more apt reading.
