All the Little Lights by Jamie McGuire
5.0

I loved this book with my whole being. It was so quiet and unsuspecting, but was one of the most powerful books I’ve read this year. It is the definition of “sneaks up on you.”
So many books about young love seem to really reach, and end up feeling disingenuous, and sometimes totally forced. All The Little Lights seemed entirely authentic to me, and built the teenage love into something tangible and relatable. This aspect of the story was so well done and completely captivated me.
I felt like this book was equal parts heartbreaking and hopeful and so there was this brilliant push and pull reading experience, from start to finish. I’d say it would be impossible not to get emotionally invested in some way.
I also loved the mystery aspect. It added another level of “must read”, and I was really puzzled trying to figure it out.
This one is definitely going on my top reads of 2023 list.
