"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."

This book was described as a missing-person story with a passing mention of WWII. WWII is the entire focus of this book! It bothered me that I was sucked into it about the missing person and then the novel switches to WWII historical fiction. Not cool!

The storyline is somewhat interesting, but the missing-person angle isn't needed. This could have been a full-on historical fiction novel that would have been amazing! Instead, it is a mediocre story.

The history of the Italian Jews during WWII was an unknown story to me.  It could have been elaborated to educate us about what happened. The characters were not fully developed, the writing was inconsistent, and the storyline was blah.

It was an easy read and worth it to find out about the Italian Jews in WWII.
