βWe do not eat our allies,β Tairn lectures. βYou never let me have any fun.β - Tairn & Andarna
βI chose you not as my next, but as my last, and should you fall, then I will followβ - Tairn
βThe map is under the mattress.β - Ridoc

βπ πππππ₯π€: For a book as large as it is and for how quickly it was written and pushed out, I really enjoyed it. Like I said in my Fourth Wing review, this book is definitely not for everyone. But Iβm so excited to see where the series goes from here. Iβm glad to see Rebecca Yarros is taking more time to write and fine-tune the third book.
There is so much that happened in this book and to unpack that I donβt even know where to begin. LIAM making a reappearance, even though itβs only a hallucination. Personally, I think it has more meaning than was mentioned. Xaden and Violet in the throne scene? π₯΅. Then LILITH?? Andarna waiting for 650 YEARS?? VENIN XADEN?? I hope we get to see more depth in the other characters throughout the series.
The mention of the different gods has to mean something. Thereβs a connection somehow. The way Violet compares Xaden to Dunne? Her constant mention of Malek. I believe Rhiannon was even mentioned as looking like Amari. What is Violetβs second signet? So many questions.
I am also not excited to have Jack Barlow back π. Bro had a whole mountain land on him, and heβs still walking around.
Overall, I really liked the book. The only reason for 4 stars vs. 5 is that it felt a bit rushed and overloaded with information. Going back to my previous point, I think the third book will be better since Rebecca is taking her time with the book.
