The Velveteen Rabbit: Or How Toys Become Real
by Margery Williams Bianco
“The Velveteen Rabbit” is a beautiful and touching children’s book that I remember my mom read to me when I was little. While I loved this book as a child, I think I love it even more now because I understand the meaning behind it. When you are real and a good person, it doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside and if people judge you for that, they don’t understand who you truly are. “once you are Real, you can’t be ugly”. This is my favorite quote from the book because of how simple and humble it is. This book is filled with sadness, loss, and love. It is heartbreaking but the detail given by the author helps the reader to understand the unconditional love that was shared between the velveteen rabbit and the boy. Like I said before, I would recommend this book to any child without hesitation, but I would also encourage every adult to read it and understand the true meaning behind it as well.
