To Get to the Other Side by Kelly Ohlert
3.0
When she spies a chicken in the middle of a Chicago street, Trixie impulsively jumps out of her car and takes it. Too bad her building has a no pet rule, and when her landlord catches her trying to smuggle in yet another animal, Trixie is left needing to find another place to live. Bear’s sisters are worried about his lack of socialization, even though he is happy with his quiet life. When they post an ad renting out his spare bedroom without his permission, Bear finds himself agreeing to let Trixie move in, even though it will disrupt his life. The two struggle to keep things platonic, fighting the attraction they feel for each other. Can they work through their baggage and find happiness with each other?
The characters were a little too over the top for me in this romcom. It was an entertaining story, though I kept wishing that the main characters would just talk to each other, already. Stefanie Kay & Paul Heitsch did a nice job narrating the audiobook. This was not a bad book, but there are others out there that are better.
Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.
