The Empty Chair by Jeffery Deaver

2.0

I am so used to the giddy twists in Deaver's books that I would be shocked if there were no twists in this one. So there were one twist after other, that they failed to surprise me. I wouldn't have been surprised if Rhyme started walking, saying "see how good I am at misdirection!!".

Even when they already know the kidnapper's identity and they have only a few hours to save the kidnapped girls, they don’t mount a massive search operation with dogs and helicopters, but, as per Lincoln's instructions, they comb through the evidences , soil sample etc to find the hiding place. Preserving the evidences, walking the grid makes sense when you don't know the perp's identity, but this was ridiculous.

Some description of the filthy insect boy was disgusting. None of the insect boy's actions made any sense, even after the final reveal. Amelia was irritating.

Anyway, this was a fun thriller, if you leave your brains behind. There was so much information about insects, to file away in your knowledge bank.
