Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Did not finish book.
I hate to just totally rag on a book I didn't finish but man somehow between the characters and the way it was written this book took an interesting concept and made a boring story about it. There are a couple of ya trends in here that didn't help matters as well. All of the people the main character meets are self serving jerks, his only friend is always making fun of him and even his grandfather whom I think you're supposed to be sympathetic towards is shown in a harsher light most of the time. His parents are absent or they serve as some sort of obstacle, his mom just being a helicopter mom who doesn't love her husband and his dad some self absorbed hobbiest and Miss Peregrine is just a caricature of an old fussy British lady. I want to also say some of the time travel concepts don't seem well hashed out but since I didn't finish the last fourth of the book that isn't a fair opinion. But I really don't care to find out.
