A refreshingly uncomplicated adventure that lays the seeds for a deeper discussion, Dungeon Crawler Carl takes on the apocalypse with humor and wit. Any reader disappointed by Ender's Game's approach to video game and pop culture references will be delighted by the seamless ways Matt has brought his concept of the dungeon to life. Slightly reminiscent of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Carl and Donut work with Mordecai and a growing cast of characters to unveil the true enemy while discovering what's deeply rooted in themselves. A tale of resilience in the face of desparity, and a message much needed in today's day and age. As Carl says, "You won't fucking break me."
