A Good Day for Chardonnay by Darynda Jones

4.0

I loved [b:A Good Day for Chardonnay|53137959|A Good Day for Chardonnay (Sunshine Vicram, #2)|Darynda Jones|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1625788053l/53137959._SX50_.jpg|79888435].

[a:Darynda Jones|4175419|Darynda Jones|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1599861160p2/4175419.jpg] has a way of creating stories that are 80% fun, but with a dark heart that make me cry at least once per novel and this one was no different.

With the background of Sunshine's abduction, another abduction, serious injuries to central characters, and the death of a loved character, this book is still a genuinely fun read. But none of the fun, occasional silliness, and snarky comments trivialise what the characters go through. It reads like genuine "emergency services" gallows humour.

I will be counting the days to the next installment.
