I started reading this series years ago, and I have no idea why it took me so long to get to the finale. While I enjoying the novel overall, I think it is partially due to the earlier books that built my connection to the characters. On its own, this story was fairly disappointing, but as a conclusion to the series, it really delivered what I, as a reader, wanted/expected. As an earlier reviewer noted, this book didn't really have much plot to propell it on its own. Also, it didn't really answer some of the questions that arose from the situation (how did it all actually happen? WHY did it happen?). The ending was foreshadowed in the earlier books but there wasn't much in THIS book to explain it. We were just expected to take it for what it was. It happened, move on.
