Grady Hendrix is a master of horror, this is a slow burn that's equally thrilling and wholesome (however he does that). It's got heart, and the descriptions are so visual they basically jump off the page. The horror portion is not too big but it does hit and makes one viscerally uncomfortable while reading. I don't know if suburban life or the vamoires are scarier but it's good.
