Unmasked: My Life Solving America's Cold Cases by Paul Holes

dark informative inspiring mysterious reflective sad fast-paced

5.0

This book was fascinating. I listened to the audiobook which is narrated by Paul Holes himself. The stories he tells were extremely graphic at times, so please be aware of that if you plan on picking this one up.

I loved Holes’ passion for cold cases. They don’t get enough attention for obvious reasons, but he just couldn’t get these victims go without justice. Sadly though, this lead to an obsession and a workload that ripped holes in other parts of his life. I can’t imagine seeing the things he’s seen and trying to go home to a wife and children and be a family man. Ultimately Holes did put his career first but he solved so many cases that may have never been solved otherwise.

Hearing him speak about the moment the Golden State Killer was arrested gave me goosebumps. And telling one of his rape victims that he was caught was just… I have no words.

This was truly an amazing book for fans of true crime. Thank you Celadon for the gifted review copy.
