• High school senior realizes that his best friend’s macabre drawings of monsters are coming to life and they team up to (rather violently) keep them at bay. A horror with a moderate amount of gore but an absolutely lethal amount of yearning
• (Queer characters can be toxically codependent as a treat)
• The prose is SO ornate and the characters intensely angsty but I think the plot is good enough to support both (for the most part) and the way the story ends made it clear to me that both of those elements were intentional (this was truly a month of books that stuck the fucking landing)
• Great read if you’re looking for a dark academia/spooky fall vibe and are willing to tolerate the wildest attachment styles you’ve ever seen
