The Echo Wife by Sarah Gailey
5.0

Evelyn, a super smart and driven scientist specializing in cloning, is struggling with the knowledge that her ex-husband was cheating on her with a clone he secretly made of Evelyn (after having stolen her research). Even more of a headache is when she is forced to team up with her clone, Martine, when the clone murders their husband.

A bit slow with a focus on the science (and sometimes the monotony of scientific research). There were a couple awesome twists I didn’t see coming. And also sinister - both in how Evelyn is so detached from the sentient creatures she grows to the horrors she enacts upon them in the name of science. Interesting take on what it means to be sentient and what personhood is from the perspective of a character who is, at best, amoral.
