Ace of Spades was exceptional! I didn't know it would be so good! I literally read it in a single sitting. It took many different turns that I wasn't expecting. It's extremely unique within the mystery genre. It is a great take on black excellence amidst white supremacy and white fragility.
It's no secret that the mystery genre tends to be lacking a little color 😂 so this book is an excellent way to allow young black folks to enjoy the genre starring people who look like us. The fabulous it girl is black and she is giving absolutely everything 💅🏽 We also see the moody musician character as a black male. I am obsessed with the excellent black portrayal throughout the story. This book is also queer so points all around! It is very refreshing and amazing to read so much queer love within the black community. Throughout this entire book I was stressed for them! The way that the mystery turned out was such a brilliant twist!
This book is enthralling, intriguing, stressful, and unapologetically black. I absolutely loved this book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great, diverse, easy mystery.
