The Shuddering by Ania Ahlborn
5.0

That was absolutely brutal from beginning to end. I totally suspected the ending would not be happy at all, and I was correct. I also was waiting the entire time for the dog to get eaten. I knew it would happen!

The way this book was written felt very smart to me. I liked how it switched from the main story to random people in the area just getting demolished by these creatures. If it was only our group of people, it would have felt a bit more slow.

The entire time I was reading this I was just anticipating something bad. She definitely set the tone for that, which made something I’m not really afraid of feel a bit more scary and anxiety inducing. I mean, my heart was seriously pounding at some parts because I was so scared for the characters.

I’ll hand it to them though. They were pretty brave and very smart. They just kept making tiny mistakes that screwed them in the end. Not even shit that they had much control over which is what made reading their failures even more painful.

A+ I did not expect myself to enjoy that book as much as I did.
