Wow. Never considered myself much into historical fiction but Kristin Hanna really does an amazing job with the genre. I dreamed about these characters in detail, pictured their lives, all because of the immaculate writing of this book. It is hard at moments but it needs to be, to remember the difficulties of war, loss, and grief. I don’t know if I would read this if I was in a bad head space, but I really loved it.
