This is the first book I have ever annotated! From the beginning, I was hooked on so much I wanted to take notes. This follows 2 POVs, one from the current time and one from the past (10 years ago, I think). These characters have similarities when it comes to their relationships with their mom. This is a YA paranormal thriller that kept me on my toes. Every new plot twist and turn had me shocked! There are many hard topics discussed, especially the statistics surrounding missing black girls. The author wants to ensure that they are never forgotten and this is prominent by the end of the book.

This is also a great book to read as a buddy read or a book club since it has so much that can be dissected and discussed. 

This was in my top 3 favorite reads of 2023!
