I wanted to like it… it was just too ambitious. Too many characters and plot lines that all seemed to implode 3/4 of the way through the book with little to no warning or lead up. The first half of the book made it seem like a cute YA modern novel with some tame magic sprinkled in, and then suddenly people were dying and there were immortal witches and ancient goddesses showing up. It didn’t feel believable. The ending felt rushed, and the writing was mediocre at best. Also was kinda creeped out by the main love interest being between a 17 yr old girl and an immortal witch at least 300 yrs old stuck in an 18 yr old body….

Love the concept of the story, I just wish it was developed more. it gets 3 stars because the portrayal of queer and black characters was refreshing
