The Wives
by Tarryn Fisher
I received a copy of this book through a Goodreads giveaway.
I struggled with this one to start off with. Until about halfway through the book I felt like it was just dragging a bit too much for me. It did start to pick up a bit by the halfway mark though. The whole plural marriage story was a bit much for me too, I just couldn't make myself buy into it. I also struggled a bit to find any redeeming qualities in the characters and I struggled to relate to any of them, and, as such, wasn't really inclined to feel much of anything for any of them, except maybe Hannah. The whole thing also started to feel rather convoluted toward the end, up until the last chapter when almost everything is cleared up and questions answered. I did find the insight to just how damaging trauma of any sort, be it physical or emotional, can be and the impact it can have on a person to be a bit terrifying.
This one had potential, but it simply wasn't to my tastes as much as I was hoping it would be.
