I am disappointed that I had a much harder time with this book than I did with the first one. Truth be told, I probably should have re-read or at least refreshed my memory about all that happens in the first one, before jumping right into this one. And that is exactly what we do, we jump right back into the action, almost as if it is expected that you went from book one right into this one. The plot continues from the first page, making me feel a little lost and behind right from the jump.
I got 100 pages in, and still felt like I was missing things so I went back and read the last 6 or 7 chapters of the first book to refresh. Even though it helped a little bit, I still had a really hard time either with the pacing or the plot. One thing that Isabel Ibanez does well with this series though, is make it extremely twisty. Some you see coming a mile away, but while you are waiting for that shoe to drop, she reveals two other things that you didn't even think about! I loved that about the first book, and she did an excellent job with that in this one.
I will definitely be keeping my eye out for more things from this author.
