Carol: The Price of Salt
by Patricia Highsmith
It was somewhat difficult for me to really get into a groove with this book. It's achy and yearning and indirect in ways that didn't quite resonate with me. So I took a break of a couple days before I finished the last several hours. What I missed in the buildup, I definitely gained in the resolution. Really enjoyed the ways Highsmith ended this novel.
Bonus star for how this book was written (Highsmith is clearly a talented writer) and what it means/the historical importance of this story (the 50s were low on queer representation and I appreciate the normalcy Highsmith uses in portraying these women).
