This book is literally the movie Crash x The Both Die at the End. The first book managed to anger you at the end even though you knew they were both going to die, somehow you thought the author was playing a trick on you? This prequel feels like perspectives just pigpile on a story that teaches you nothing about Death cast in a frustrating way...the character don't need to know how it works, the readers should've learned...like that is what I assumed I was getting before I started...an explanation not another semi traumatic gay love story with a plot twist that wasn't a plot twist because the second you read Co-Protagonist's name you realize he only exists to be the other Co-Protagonist's solution. The naming of the character felt super heavy handed here, like I would have avoided cardiac themed names in general here lol. Overall it was an enjoyable read, but won't join my shelf of rereads, comfort reads, nostalgic reads etc...even though the original book is on that shelf.
