This was a great sequel! The world was VASTLY expanded in this novel. I loved the premise at the end where they were flying the sky ship around and on missions in different worlds. Super creative and a very exciting concept that I would LOVE to read about because the world is so complex. Also, I caught the references to the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. Are we assuming that they end up meeting Karou and Sarai gets a new body? I dig it.

Nova and Kora’s sisterly relationship was absolutely heartbreaking and so was their whole story. I thought it was such a good addition to the story.

I had a few issues with the book. I think that nothing really happened in the first 150 pages and some of that could have been compacted a little bit. Also, Sarai being a ghost really did not do much for the story. She basically is the EXACT SAME as she is when she is alive, like she can be touched and she still has her power, like she did not really lose much??

Although I like the open ending because the concept is good, I feel like a couple things needed more wrapping up. People’s friendships/relationships are still developing or in limbo. It seems more like the end of a second book in a trilogy instead of the ending of a duology.

In general, I still loved the characters and the book was so quick and easy to read. I needed more of Sparrow in this book though because she’s the best. I feel like everything is still open, and we hopefully have not seen the last of these characters and the world.
