The Call Of Cthulhu And Other Stories
by H.P. Lovecraft
Remember to separate the art from the artist, though Lovecraft makes it especially hard to do that. Anyway, my rating of the short stories:
The Nameless city: 3,5/5
Herbert West - Reanimator: 3,5/5
The Hound: 3/5
The Lurking Fear: 4,5/5
The Rats in the Walls: 4/5
The Festival: 2,5/5
The Shunned House: 3,5/5
The Horror at Red Hook: 3/5
He: 3,5/5
The Call of Cthulhu: 5/5
In essence: The good Stories really bump the rating up, Lovecraft is able to create an ongoing feeling of eerieness throughout his stories which always stays with you. His creation of the cosmic horror genre is also something not be overlooked.
Reading this at night while rain patters at the windows is an astounding experience.
