I don’t know how to feel about this one. I don’t think I liked almost anything that happened in the book and I’m unsure how much I even liked the characters.

I do know that somehow, this book had me in a chokehold. Like, watching an accident happen in slow motion that you just can’t look away from.

The main characters are deeply flawed. But somehow that made them feel more real to me. Jared is wildly possessive on his best days and a narcissistic asshole on his worst. But I can appreciate how unapologetic he was throughout the story.

I think Zo said it best, “Good people may do bad things...But they are still good people, still capable of doing amazing things...”

I found Banner to be very relatable in the beginning of her story. A female character who is strong and resilient. She was initially someone who judged her worth by what she saw on a scale. But also someone who didn’t continue to let it define her. She made mistakes. Unforgivable ones. But that made her real.

It honestly feels very refreshing to read about characters that I can’t put on a pedestal. We live in a world where social media creates this false narrative that people have these perfect lives with perfect relationships. They don’t. And neither do Banner and Jared.

Also…can we take a moment to appreciate Jared’s vows? And he did them in Spanish??? 💪🏽😜💖

“I didn’t fall for you all at once, I fell for you in pieces. First it was your voice — Confident and strong, bold and loud. Which led me to your mind, sharp and brilliant. And then I saw your face, your hair, your body. A beautiful layer covering the thing that drew me most. Your heart. A heart wide enough, deep enough to share the joy, the sorrow of those around you. A heart open enough to let me in. And I’m never leaving. Through good times, through hard times, This is where I’ll stay.” 😭😭
