saw the movie first and thought it was really cute, i was smiling for two hours straight, so i thought i needed to read this as soon as possible because alex and henry just wouldn't leave my mind. and i'm so glad i did because it was so much better than i expected (i still think the movie was cute but damn, how nice would it be if they made it into a mini series instead?). politics terrifies me, especially us politics because i'm not familiar with a lot of things, and the premise of the book/movie wasn't all that interesting to me, but this was actually such an easy read and didn't bother me at all, i just had a really nice time overall. i gave the movie a five star rating and the book is definitely better, like so much better, for a lot of different reasons, but it's not a five star book for me. i know, i know.. but it's different! it's just not something i would usually sit down and read for myself, and i don't think i would ever pick it up if it wasn't for the movie and how happy it made me after the shitty day i had. the book is so much better, as i already said, but i'm judging these two mediums a little differently, and it still was really enjoyable! <3 i'm a sucker for a happy ending, but i don't think i will ever come back to this book ever again
