So glad the incest plot is finally over, but Jace and Clary are still equally as annoying. I love Simon and Isabelle, though. Hated him for the double date plot, but I love Isabelle so much. So so so much. Magnus Bane, as always, is my favorite character, but his boyfriend, not so much. Alex was being a little bitch in this book. Magnus is like 700, he’s obviously been in love before you came along. And whining about him being with both males and females? Way to be biphobic. Get a life honestly, to think that i liked you before this series 😐.
Regardless, the writing was compelling, and i loved the Brother Zachariah scene with Jace <33333. “Would that I had been there,” he said, his voice unexpectedly gentle, “when you were growing up. I would have seen the truth in your face, Jace Lightwood, and known who you were.” Seeing as I read The Infernal Devices before TMI, i am loving all of these references i wouldn’t have understood otherwise. Even though i like this series so far, it’s so cringe it makes me want to vomit. The cliche “i love you more than the entire world” shit that Jace and Clary have going on COULD be cute, but it just feels gross after the brother sister thing. Also why are they both so overpowered 🤨. I know we’re talking about a series with half angels, hot wizards, and silent brothers with heartbreaking pasts, but that seems a little unrealistic to me.
From what i can see about Jordan, his abuse toward Maia was a consequence of turning into a werewolf. He seems genuine about his regret, and i for one don’t believe that Maia going back to him would be romanticizing abuse or forgiving it. He was truly sorry, and from what we’ve seen of him so far, I do think that he didn’t mean to do it. If he attempts to hurt her again, however, there would be no further excuses for his actions. In my opinion, Jordan and Maia’s relationship is better than Jace and Clary’s.
Anyway, in total, this series in comparison to both TDA and TID, sucks massive booty. Just read the first three books and pretend there was a happy ending to the third, and you’ll waste a lot less time. Toodles xo
