The Master's Tools Will Never Dismantle the Master's House by Audre Lorde

5.0

So poetically written. Her ability to present things beautifully and bluntly allows her to communicate and re-present ideas, new and old, in a way that connects with the hearts and minds of readers. I find this connection between logic (mind) and soul (heart) is vital. Social justice is logical but also emotional and requires empathy. One without the other and we are lost. I think Lorde finds the perfect balance.
I especially loved her essays on the erotic and anger. They are absolutely liberating and empowering.

As a black queer woman, she has serval perspectives through which she sees the world and the world sees her. Black women, I believe are the best listeners and teachers. Lorde is no exception.
