Writing was mediocre, even for a middle grade book. Author clearly doesn't know how to use an Oxford comma, and I swear Gretel's character was just there for annoyance. There are so many other Holocaust literature books out there that are much, much, MUCH better. Maybe it's just because I had to read this for school, but I just didn't enjoy it.
