Summer Love by Jill Santopolo

When I picked up this book, I was expecting myself to enjoy it immensely. Partly because I used to enjoy choose-your-own-adventure books a lot when I was in grade school and reading one now would be like reminiscing my childhood days. Plus, it also sounded like a perfect summer read. Sadly, this one was a let down.

I didn't grow attach to any of the characters, not even the character I was supposed to portray. The girls were all too flirty. It was like 'Hit on me people! Hit on me!'. The insta-love was also surreal and annoying. I know this is plain fiction but it wouldn't kill to add a little realism to it. Each and every relationship would just miraculously 'click' in a matter of minutes. One minute you see someone and the next you're already entwining your fingers with Mr. Right. Everything was cut short and there was no character development.

Aside from that, the writing style also didn't appeal to me. There's nothing to praise aside from the fact that the author stepped out of the box and tried to create a different type of contemporary.
