I wanted to love this book. I did love the first in the series, the second was good but not great, and this one just bored me near to tears at times. It took me months to finish it because I kept finding myself so bored I would set it down for something faster paced. It had flashes of greatness but overall there are too many characters to care about any deeply, the whole book feels like one long repeating battle with very little character development or plot advancement. I feel like this would do very well as a movie or TV show, but in a book form I just couldn’t visualize the battle scenes well enough to stay engaged. If you enjoy a good war story you might love it. I prefer character driven stories so this one just wasn’t for me.
