Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce
2.0

I very much liked the thread of 'you don't need to be rescued, you can do it yourself' that was running through this book, and I always like retold fairytales, but something about this story just didn't work for me. The love interest seemed more like insta-love than it really was because we didn't get a look at what their relationship was before the story starts, and the big twist at the end was obvious to me about half the way through and it was frustrating waiting for them all to catch on to it. The sisters' relationship didn't seem that believable to me, and in fact seemed kind of abusive at times (Scarlett wants to keep Rosie safe and so tells her what to do and forbids her to do things and generally rules her life with an iron first). There were just so many times that I was going 'eh?' - like when wolves are chasing them and catch up to them, they turn around to fight but first they have a whole conversation about their feelings and actually make out while the wolves just stand there and don't attack or even get ready to attack until our protagonists are ready? I do not understand!

Readers who like lots of action and forbidden romance who aren't as picky as I am about the details will probably love it.
