5 stars. Everything about this novel was unique, creative, funny, and emotional. Enid's is a story that I will hold close to my heart for years to come. Austin's writing is skilled at translating the bits of our brains that we don't always enjoy listening to, and in Enid, she has created a tender, funny masterpiece of a story.

Enid is a twenty-six year old, hard-of-hearing lesbian whose social interactions are buffered by the inescapable thought that she is a bad person. As we get to know her, we meet her maybe-depressed mother, her estranged half-sisters, as well as the rotation of dating app women she hooks up with but never dates.

As Enid begins to uncover the truth about herself, her paranoia, and come face-to-face with her PTSD, her life takes fascinating twists. A meet-cute involving an unfaithful wife, kitchen table talks about therapy with a potential polycule, awkward baby showers, obnoxious coworkers, and true crime podcasts pepper the story with entirely original humor.

Grounding Enid throughout it all are interesting facts about space, which she regularly shares with her mother.

Austin has created a memorable and heartwarming novel, exploring neurodiversity, PTSD, and what it means to come of age in today's time. Highly, highly recommend for your next book crush.
