Strange Weather in Tokyo by Hiromi Kawakami

4.0

This is a quirky love story that tells the tale of a woman in her thirties who meets by chance a former school sensei that appears to be in the twilight of his years. There is humour here but much more, including, for me at least, some sadness. This for me is written in a very Japanese style; there is subtlety in the telling and there is as much meaning in what is left unsaid as in what is said.
