Martha Ballard was a badass! I realize this book is fictional account of a real person, but there is enough information out there that supports that statement. I’m not a huge historical fiction fan, but this book may have changed my mind.  Martha was a midwife in the late 1700’s and she never lost a mother.  I loved the relationship she had with her husband. And I loved how she handled the villain at the end!
