This took me well over a year to finish, for many reasons, but my frustration with the characters was definitely one of them. Rhen is just such an ugh character, and Harper's devotion to him is also kinda ugh. I hadn't considered it, but one of the other reviewers' comments about how this book would have been better if Lillith had stayed dead and they had to work the rest of their shit out as the plot instead, and actually, yeah. I do like Lia Mara and Tycho and I probably will read the follow-up, but this book was a big downgrade from the first two for me, as evidenced by the fact that I almost gave up entirely.
