The Feather Thief: Beauty, Obsession, and the Natural History Heist of the Century by Kirk Wallace Johnson

dark informative sad slow-paced

5.0

I loved this book. Everything from the origins of collection/cataloging of birds and bugs to the fashion industry to the conservation movements to protect these creatures to the obsession with obtaining rare feathers, was fascinating. Each step of the way I found myself either angry or sad and defeated but always intrigued. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes learning and having history laid out on a very specific topic in a way that is easy to follow with a little mystery tossed in for good measure.
